Active Retirees : Active Retirees June-July 2012
Active RetireesTM | 13 The NSW Government is running a program to help households reduce energy consumption and lower their power bills. The 85,000 households that have already taken advantage of the free assessments, power saving kits and Power Savings Action Plans offered in the Home Power Savings Program have already saved more than $21million on their power bills. Probus members Heather and Barry, from North Richmond in NSW, have taken advantage of the program. “To begin with we thought, ‘Well, what’s the catch?’. “We were told there is no catch and we were going to be the ones who benefit,” says Heather. “It’s true, we’ve been really happy with the program and have told lots of friends and family about it.” Home Power Savings Program consultations are free for residents of NSW who hold Centrelink Pensioner Concession or Low Income Health Care Cards, or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pension or Repatriation Health Cards. Social housing tenants and anyone recognised as an energy utility hardship customer is also eligible for free consultations.
