Active Retirees : Active Retirees June-July 2012
6 | www.probussouthpacific.org PSP hosted the opening of our new office with special guests and dignitaries on Friday 18 May. A special moment was the cutting of the blue ribbon and unveiling of the memorial plaque, a fitting tribute to the dedicated Rotarian Founding Fathers, Rotarians, Probus members, PSP Chairmen and Directors. Thanks to their efforts, Probus has made an immense difference to the lives of many men and women in our community who have discovered friendship, fellowship and fun, as well as as the many benefits of the Probus family in retirement. This was followed by the unveiling of our new PSP Honour Board, recognising the past Chairmen who have led the success of Probus in the South Pacific.See page 12 for more about the new premises. I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank immediate past Chairman Ken Brand for his leadership of the Probus Board during the past year and to thank Ken, as well as retiring members Anne Ducray and Veronica Semmler, for their positive and dedicated commitment to the Probus organisation. Resumes of members of the 2012-13 PSP Board are on the Probus website. Photo competition I am delighted to announce the launch of Probus National Photographic Competition 2012-13. The quality and range of subjects have produced interesting photographs in our previous magazines and I eagerly anticipate this year's entries. See page 50 for details. Rendezvous Palmerston North is getting geared up to host the Probus Rendezvous in September. Don’t miss the chance to register for another excuse to holiday with Probus friends, make new friends and enjoy the New Zealand countryside. Member database PSP has now completed the data recording for the Membership Database (MDB). Only a few clubs’ details remain outstanding; I encourage them to forward member details as requested by PSP. PSP will shortly send club secretaries updated listings of their membership as recorded in the MDB, seeking annual revision. Club secretaries will also receive Probus Membership Cards for distribution to all financial members. PSP is currently investigating the potential of a unique benefits scheme for Probus members. Keeping up with PSP news Special thanks are extended to host clubs and leaders who assisted PSP and our Rotary District Probus Chairmen (RDPC) with the very successful Probus Information Days. They were a great avenue to to enhance the communication system between PSP and Probus clubs, keep up to date with Probus matters and administration, and share ideas with other Probus clubs. PSP was also delighted to host the RDPC Briefing Weekend in May, providing PSP with an opportunity to work alongside these dedicated Rotarians developing strategies to address membership retention, growth and development. I encourage you to invite your RDPC to your club for a meeting or a special anniversary and to contact by phone if you have any concerns relating to Probus matters. Margaret Robinson Chairman 2012-13 I am pleased to share the highlights of the official opening of the new PSP office in Parramatta.
