6 | www.probussouthpacific.org VIEW FROM THE CHAIR Congratulations to the winner of the Probus Annual Photographic Competition 2011-12, Greg Willis from the Probus Club of Bedford Combined, Western Australia. Greg has won an Auckland holiday for two including airfares, generously provided by PSP sponsor Grand Pacific Tours. Greg’s photograph was taken on the Bibbulmun Track near Denmark, Western Australia. The Bibbulmun Track is a long- distance walk trail. It runs from Kalamunda, east of Perth, to Albany and is almost 1000km long. The name comes from the Bibbulmun, or Noongar people, Indigenous Australians from the Perth area. Our runners-up included Ed Crawford from the Probus Club of Greenpoint, NSW, Steven Nossiter from the Probus Club of Belmont, NSW, Karin Dixon from the Probus Club of Melbourne Sunrise, Vic, L yn Wendtman from the Probus Club of Breakfast Point, NSW and David Woodside from the Probus Club of Griffith, NSW. Thanks are extended to competition sponsors Grand Pacific Tours Trade Travel, Ovens Valley Motor Inn, Acer and Intel. See page 50 for all the news and photos from the awards dinner, and get snapping, because the competition is starting once again in June. Over the coming months, PSP is relocating to a new office in Parramatta. See page 73 for the latest news on our relocation. As this will be my last Chairman’s Message for my term as PSP Chairman for 2011-12 I would like to sincerely express my appreciation for the opportunity to serve Probus and to be part of the team that is entrusted with managing and securing the future for the Probus organisation. I extend my best wishes and congratulations to Margaret Robinson, who takes the Chair for term 2012-13; I look forward to supporting Margaret in her role. I extend gratitude to my fellow Directors, General Manager Pat Atkinson and our dedicated administration team – Monika, Silvana, Candice and Lauren – for their support and encouragement. I am delighted to welcome PSP Directors for Term 2012-15: Veronica Semmler (Combined Probus Club of Barossa Inc.), John Lewis (Probus Club of Montmorency-Petri Park) and Rayella Haynes (Probus Club of Glenmore Park). Probus is in good hands with these dedicated Probus members joining the Board and volunteering their time for the next three years. Remember, Probus has a future and it’s in our hands.
