Once you have added the contact to your Skype contacts list, click on their name in the contacts box on the left-hand side of the Skype window. An option to ‘Call’ will now appear on the right-hand side of your Skype window. Click this button to start a Skype-to-Skype call. Making a Skype-to-phone call Skype allows you to call any landline or mobile phone in the world. You can expect to pay, on average, three cents per minute plus a connection fee for calls to landlines, and 33 cents per minute plus a connection fee for calls to mobiles. To buy Skype credit, click on ‘Skype’ in the menu at the top-left of your Skype window. From the drop- down menu, click ‘Buy Skype Credit’ and follow the prompts. If the contact you wish to call has a Skype account, click on their name in the contacts box on the left-hand side of the Skype window. An option to ‘Call Phone/Call Mobile’ will now appear on the right-hand side of your Skype window. Click this button to start a Skype-to-phone call. If you wish to call someone who is not on Skype, use the details in the ‘Adding a contact’ section and only enter the person’s phone number. Now, click on the person’s number in the contacts box on the left-hand side of the Skype window. An option to ‘Call Phone/Call Mobile’ will now appear on the right-hand side of your Skype window. Click this button to start a Skype-to-phone call. Making a Skype-to-Skype video call To start a video call with a contact, you need to click on their name in the contacts box on the left-hand side of the Skype window. Then click on the ‘Video Call’ button on the right-hand side of your Skype window.
