Active Retirees : Active Retirees Oct-Nov
Taste Canada Touring has taken a tasty twist, with Scenic Tours now leaving the choice of where to dine up to the whim of each traveller. On the 23-day Connoisseurs’ Choice Canadian Rockies and Alaskan Cruise tour, guests can take advantage of FreeChoice Dining, meaning a choice, for example, between working their way through several restaurants on a Whistler Village Progressive Dinner or soaking up fine dining surrounded by Rocky Mountain peaks at the Fair mont Lake Louise. The tours also include cooking classes, walking gastronomic tours, after noon teas and barbecues. Book a place on the 29 April 2012 departure before 15 October and fly almost free – just pay taxes from $640pp. The 23-day tour starts at $13,085pp twin share. •• Travel guide What: 23-day Connoisseurs’ Choice Canadian Rockies and Alaskan Cruise tour When: Departing 29 April W: www.scenictours.com.au T: 1300 723 642 Active RetireesTM | 13 WALK THIS WAY By Richard Cann Noosa National Park Coastal Walk Length: 5.4km/2 hours Difficulty: Easy Noosa, just 130km north of Brisbane, is known for its trendy restaurants, shops and beaches. However, it would be a mistake not to wander into the national park, a spectacular coastal refuge for local animals including koalas, glossy black cockatoos, ground parrots and wallum froglets. The 5.4km Coastal Walk, from Laguna Bay near Hastings Street to Sunshine Beach, is a great option for a half-day’s adventure. Fittingly for such a laid-back town, this is not a strenuous walk, but it will take you past abundant wildlife, secluded beaches and interesting rock formations. From Hell’s Gate you may even be lucky enough to spot some migrating whales. ••
