Active Retirees : Active Retirees Aug-Sept
Active RetireesTM | 11 travel news walK tHIs waY By Richard Cann Fitzroy Falls walk length: 3.5km/2 hours Difficulty: Easy w: www.visitnsw.com/town/Fitzroy_Falls.aspx Morton National Park, 140km south-west of Sydney, is home to the spectacular 81m high Fitzroy Falls and some of the most stunning views the state has to offer. The 3.5km East Rim Walking Track takes you along one side of the rugged sandstone cliffs that stand over the thickly forested valley. Fitzroy Falls is a popular attraction and the first lookout can be busy, but further along the track the crowds thin out, leaving you to soak up the atmosphere in peace. For the more energetic, there are plenty of other trails in the area, including an easy walk to the nearby Belmore Falls, which features an even higher waterfall. •• Foodfight! A weekend away has never been so competitive. Peppers Salt Resort and Spa, at Kingscliff on NSW’s Tweed Coast, is hosting MasterChef-inspired weekends that will have guests cooking off for top honours and a raft of prizes. Remember the rewards episode when MasterChef competitors visited Season restaurant to be indulged by Chef Reuben Radonich? The first night of the MasterChef weekend will be a delicious introduction to the restaurant, with guests enjoying a two-course dinner featuring local and organic produce. After lunch and wine on Saturday, guests will don their MasterChef aprons for a Pressure Test, replicating one of the chef’s signature dishes. Win or lose, everyone will be rewarded on Saturday night with four stunning courses and matched wines.
