Good news and celebrations
The gift of a new year brings many opportunities to
celebrate new beginnings and challenges in life.
Welcome on board
I am pleased to announce that Murray Jensen has
accepted the appointment to fill the New Zealand Probus
representative position as a member and director of Probus
South Pacific Limited for the Term 2014-2017 for New
Zealand Districts 9940, 9970 and 9980. Murray retired
in June 2014 from serving a three-year term (2011-2014).
Murray has a wealth of knowledge and Probus experience
to bring to the organisation.
Best in show
Probus South Pacific Limited enjoyed the great
opportunity to showcase Probus at the Rotar y
International Institute in Wellington New Zealand in
December 2014; 600 Rotary delegates were present for
the institute and District 9940 conference.
New friends and faces
I am delighted to welcome the many newly-formed
Probus clubs across Australia and I extend the hand of
friendship to their members and hope that they will all
enjoy the true spirit of Probus; a new beginning for some
in their retirement and a chance to discover a new lease
of life for others.
The power of the pen
The New Year has started in high spirits with the
announcement of the winner of the prestigious Paul
Henningham Literar y Excellence Award. Congratulations
to Joyce Suto from the Mitcham Orchards Probus Club in
Victoria for her poem, Red Daisies. Please visit the PSPL
website Hall of Fame section for details of the award.
A new communication tool
A new era is upon us with the launch of the monthly
Active Retirees enewsletter. Club officers will be sent the
inaugural enewsletter and we hope the announcement
will encourage Probus club members to sign up and
subscribe. Visitors to the PSPL website and club locator
will be invited to subscribe.
We are looking forward to celebrating with our six Probus
National Photographic Competition finalists along with
our sponsors (Cruise Traveller, Trade Travel, Great
Southern Rail, Virgin, Momento, and Golden Chain Motor
Inns) at a celebratory dinner where we will announce the
winner of the competition later this month. Watch out for
the exciting new launch in the next issue.
Change at the helm
We look forward to congratulating the newly-elected
officers who will lead their Probus clubs in 2015-2016.
I would encourage all officers to take the opportunity to
attend the upcoming Probus Information Days. These
days provide a wealth of knowledge and ideas to assist
in the management of the club and an opportunity to
network with other clubs within your district.
The Probus Travel Insurance has been
renewed for a further twelve months. We
extend our thanks to our brokers, Aon
Risk Services, and representatives
of ACE Insurance Limited for
developing the Probus Travel
Insurance policy to meet the needs
of our active retirees.
Please visit PSPL website or contact
PSPL staff for a competitive quote,
documentation and application form.
See page 69.
An ANZAC tribute
Please visit the PSPL website for
members offers, such as the Probus
Getaway in April 2015 to commemorate
the Centenary of ANZAC, organised
through Great Southern Rail and our
core sponsors, Trade Travel.
Together, we can continue to build and
strengthen the Probus movement and find
peace and harmony in our achievements.
